Strong and Safe
Psalms 103:8-16 (NIV)
This message explores how God’s character provides the perfect example of fatherhood. While earthly fathers vary greatly in their strengths, weaknesses, and presence in our lives, God reveals what a loving Father truly looks like through His patience, grace, compassion, and unwavering love.
The sermon acknowledges that Father’s Day can bring a variety of emotions. Some celebrate fathers who were loving and present, while others carry wounds from fathers who were absent, distant, or imperfect. Yet regardless of our earthly experiences, Scripture points us to a Heavenly Father whose love never fails and whose example guides us in healthy relationships.
David describes God as “compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.” God is patient with His children, listening to their questions, walking with them through struggles, and offering correction without condemnation. Unlike human relationships that can be unpredictable, God’s love remains constant and dependable.
“As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.” — Psalm 103:13
