Room for the Doubting

John 20:24–29 (TPT)

This message centers on a simple but powerful truth:

Jesus makes room for doubt, but calls us out of it into faith.

Thomas Isn’t Weak, He’s Real

We call him “Doubting Thomas,” but Scripture calls him:

  • “The Twin”

He was:

  • Loyal
  • Committed
  • Willing to die for Jesus

Yet… he struggled.

Strong believers can still have real doubts.

Why Doubt Happens

Thomas had:

  • Seen Jesus die
  • Missed His first appearance

So he said:

“Unless I see… I will not believe.”

Disappointment often leads to doubt.

Jesus’ Response

Jesus doesn’t shame him. He invites him:

“Come and see.”

  • Touch the wounds
  • See the truth
  • Experience it personally

Three Invitations

1. Come and See

Faith invites investigation, not blind belief.

2. Stop Doubting

At some point, you must choose:

  • Keep questioning forever
  • Or step into trust

3. Trust Personally

Thomas responds:

“My Lord and my God.”

Faith becomes real when it becomes yours.

Key Reminder

  • Doubt is human
  • Staying in unbelief is a choice

The Goal of Faith

Not:

  • Easy life
  • Perfect answers

But:

The salvation of your soul.

Bottom Line

Bring your doubts to Jesus, just don’t build a home in them.
