Desire & Delight
As we step into a new year, many of us are thinking about what we want most better health, financial stability, deeper relationships, or a fresh start. But this message invites us to ask a deeper question: What is the true longing of your heart for 2026?
Using Psalm 37 especially verse 4, we’re reminded that God’s promise is not simply about getting what we want, but about learning to want what is truly life-giving:
“Delight yourself in Adonai, and He will give you your heart’s desire.”
This sermon explores what it means to make the Lord (Adonai) our greatest source of joy. When God becomes our delight, our desires begin to align with His heart and He faithfully provides what we need most. The psalm lays out a clear pathway: trust in the Lord, do good, commit your way to Him, be still, and wait patiently as He works.
In a culture filled with anxiety, outrage, and noise, we are called to live differently anchored in God’s faithfulness, grounded in His Word, and focused on our purpose as Christ’s witnesses. As we surrender control and give God the right to direct our lives, we discover that He leads, provides, and holds us steady even when we stumble.
This is an invitation for 2026: Don’t settle for lesser desires. Make God your delight, and trust Him to fulfill what your heart truly needs.
